In 1993 Hyperbaric Physicians of Georgia opened its first facility, Cobb Hyperbaric Medicine, which still remains one of only a few freestanding hyperbaric centers in the Southeast. As we have grown over the past several years, so too has our visibility grown as a leader in the medical community. Hyperbaric Physicians of Georgia is actively involved in increasing the acceptance of hyperbaric medicine through its participation in national conferences, symposiums, conventions, and local marketing.
2009 Podiatry Institute Atlanta ConferenceMarch 26-28, 2009, Hyperbaric Physicians of Georgia was an exhibitor at the Podiatry Institute Conference in Atlanta at the J. W. Marriott Hotel. Podiatrists and healthcare professionals throughout the U.S. were in attendance. The Podiatry Institute is an organization that focuses on new advancements of modalities in the field of wound care and podiatry medicine.
2008 Wound Care SymposiumHPG was an exhibitor at WellStar's 7th Annual Advanced Clinical Symposium on Wound Care, held on September 20, 2008, at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. This event addresses the educational needs of the healthcare providers involved in wound care, and HPG provided information to the attendees on the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen treatment.
NPMA 2008 National ConventionApril 5-6, 2008, the National Podiatric Medical Association (NPMA) held its national convention in Atlanta, GA. In attendance at this convention were members of the podiatry community, including physicians, equipment & service providers. HPG was among the exhibitors at this convention, speaking with attendees and providing information about hyperbaric medicine therapy.
WXIA TV11HPG was featured in a segment called, "Modern Healing", which aired locally on the NBC affiliate station, WXIA-TV11, Atlanta. This segment, narrated by Alan Shackelford, M.D., features Dr. Daniel Beless of HPG who talks about HBO treatments and adjunctive therapies. Additionally, Dr. Beless explains what a patient can expect during a HBO treatment, as well as the benefits of HBO treatments.
M.D. News MagazineHPG was the featured cover story, "A Breath of Fresh Air: Hyperbaric Medicine", in the September 2007 issue of M.D. News magazine (Metro Atlanta Edition, Vol.9, No. 7). In the three page article, Elizabeth Schwartz interviews Dr. Helen Gelly who discusses the work that HPG performs at its facilities and the various aspects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
2007 Wound Care SymposiumDr. Helen Gelly, HPG Medical Director, was a guest speaker at the 6th Annual Advanced Clinical Symposium on Wound Care, presented by WellStar Health Systems, held on September 15, 2007, at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. At this year's symposium, "Challenges of the Diabetic Foot", Dr. Gelly spoke about the hyperbaric indications for foot wounds to an audience of primary and specialty physicians, podiatrists, nurses and other advanced practitioners involved in wound care and diabetes.
